The cultural soul of our city, the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts (MTCA) creates works of art that inspire Columbia and is inspired by Columbia. We engage our community in a lively, joyful cultural opportunity that pulses with our city's booming vitality. The Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts is here to awaken our souls. I believe the arts offer an avenue for self-examination, an arena in which we might be challenged to understand not just our own lives, but the world in which we live. MTCA relishes the opportunity to engage Columbia in a collective imaginative act of interaction that leads to greater self-expression making our community a better place to live, work, and play. The ten local visual and performing arts organizations that call the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts their "artistic home" give life to visual art, plays, dance, music, and film that help create an atmosphere for our community to discuss, study, love, and be entertained. Throughout the years to come MTCA will seek to present our community with elements of surprise. The events that will be presented on the MTCA stage and in the art gallery will be progressive, optimistic, ambitious – always striving to exceed our audience's expectations. And in doing so, MTCA will be nurturing today for tomorrow and building an audience for the arts in the future. I envision the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts as the community meeting place where a diverse, energized Columbia community has investment, ownership and representation. A center for the arts that celebrates and elevates our community collective soul. So, come join the celebration at the "people's arts center" - the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts - Columbia's "Art of it All!"

Cheers,
